Every Rescue Begins with Compassion
Behind every successful bird rescue is a passionate volunteer willing to give their time, care, and dedication to protecting Australia’s native birdlife.
At Wild Bird Rescue & Care, our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. Whether responding to rescue calls, transporting injured birds, assisting with rehabilitation, or educating the local community, every volunteer plays an important role in giving native birds a second chance.
Every rescue represents teamwork, compassion, and a shared commitment to protecting wildlife across Bribie Island and Surrounding Areas.
What Our Volunteers Do
Our volunteers support many aspects of wildlife rescue, including:
- Responding to injured bird reports
- Safely transporting birds to rehabilitation facilities
- Assisting with feeding and daily rehabilitation
- Cleaning and maintaining aviaries
- Preparing birds for release
- Supporting community education events
- Helping with fundraising and awareness campaigns
Each task contributes directly to the recovery of Australia’s native birds.
No Experience? No Problem.
Many people believe they need previous wildlife experience before volunteering.
The truth is that many volunteer roles require only enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
Our experienced wildlife carers provide guidance and training to help volunteers develop the skills needed to safely assist native birds.
Whether you have a few hours each week or can volunteer regularly, every contribution makes a difference.
Making a Real Difference
Every year, volunteers help rescue hundreds of injured, sick, and orphaned native birds.
From carefully transporting a rescued pelican to feeding a recovering rainbow lorikeet, every action helps improve the chances of successful rehabilitation and release.
These moments remind us that wildlife conservation is only possible through the support of caring people within our community.
Why Volunteers Matter
Wildlife rescue organisations rely heavily on volunteers.
Without their dedication, many native birds would not receive the urgent care they need.
Volunteers help us:
- Respond to rescue calls faster
- Support rehabilitation programs
- Increase community awareness
- Improve animal welfare outcomes
- Expand conservation efforts across the region
Their commitment allows more birds to return safely to their natural habitat.
